Ben Romans Hopcraft, Leo Dobsen, Daniel Salamons, and Jonny Williams are Childhood. This indie-pop group from London may have only released two tracks thus far, but they’re two ridiculously fetching tunes! AMBY’s excited to hear more from Childhood, so to learn about the quartet and see what they’ve been up to AMBY spoke with Chidhood about seeing an elf in a woodland, getting wavey, and NASA!
AMBY: Hello Childhood, what’s the band been up to lately?
Childhood: Hello! We have been super busy actually, just got a new drummer who played our biggest London show ever with us, it was amazing. And we just finished recording our second single, which is gunna change people’s lives.
AMBY: For those who have yet to hear you, how would you describe your sound in three words?
Childhood: Glistening wavey ectoplasm.
AMBY: Where did the name Childhood come from?
Childhood: It was decided before we wrote any songs. We thought it would be cool to be in a band called childhood, and luckily, it is.
AMBY: Your SoundCloud has one song as of right now, and it’s a wicked one! What’s Haltija about?
Childhood: It’s about when our guitarist Leo saw an elf in a woodland when he was 7. The memory was repressed until a year or 2 ago, and the sinister memories were put into song form. This elf was bad news.
AMBY: Speaking of your music, are there more recordings in the works?
Childhood: Of course! We are writing new songs at the moment and soon should have enough material for the album, which we can’t wait to record.
AMBY: What’s the funniest moment you’ve had as a band so far?
Childhood: Nothing funny has ever happened. It could happen this year our fingers our crossed.
AMBY: Who are some bands you’d recommend our readers check out?
Childhood: Our friend only real is a pretty sexy guy, Splashh’s album will be great, outer limits recordings album is a pop classic, and look out for solo projects coming out of childhood. Goofballs might happen one day, as might Danke Splash. That’s left to fate babe.
AMBY: What’s a lyric you’ll never get enough of?
Childhood: Because your kiss (your kiss) is on my list <3
AMBY: What has you excited for 2013?
Childhood: Everything! The sun finally coming out, all the festivals we will be playing, recording the album, getting wavey. It’s shaping up to be a memorable one.
AMBY: And lastly, what’s something about Childhood that nobody knows?
Childhood: All of our dads have worked at NASA at some stage in their lives.
Thank you Childhood, for giving us your answers!
