California’s The Neighbourhood have been on everyone’s radar lately, and there’s a good reason for that. Their popular song Sweater Weather was my first taste of what the band had to offer– the track is extremely hooking and the flourished chorus is hard to forget. AMBY had a chat with The Neighbourhood about their logo, favourite recording moments, and their album I Love You.!
AMBY: Hello The Neighbourhood, cheers for speaking with AMBY! What’s the band been up to lately?
The Neighbourhood: We are currently in the midst of our tour The Love Collection. It’s going great.
AMBY: Your debut record I Love You. is a great collection of tracks. Which songs are your favourite off the album?
The Neighbourhood: Afraid, WDYWFM & Float are my personal favorites.
AMBY: What were some of your favourite moments you had while recording I Love You.?
The Neighbourhood: I think the second half of the process, when we moved to New York for three weeks, was my favorite.
AMBY: The band recently announced that you’ll be joining Imagine Dragons on tour in July and September. Which cities are you most excited to play?
The Neighbourhood: New York is always fun. I am originally from New York and have family there so it definitely takes precedence, naturally.
AMBY: What’s the symbolism behind the triangle, heart, and upside down house?
The Neighbourhood: Our record is called I Love You. (eye heart U)
AMBY: Your song Sweater Weather has had great success with its video reaching over two and a half millions views! With the achievement of that track, how would you describe success for yourselves as a band?
The Neighbourhood: We are fortunate to have had the success we have had thus far, but we are always setting bigger goals for ourselves to reach.
AMBY: What would a movie based on The Neighbourhood be called?
The Neighbourhood: There Goes The Neighbourhood.
AMBY: What’s the funniest thing to happen to you as a band?
The Neighbourhood: We always have a good time. There was a time when a homeless man did magic tricks for us. We were losing our shit.
AMBY: What’s your favourite release of the year so far?
The Neighbourhood: JT’s album was strong. I’m REALLY looking forward to J Coles album.
AMBY: And lastly, what’s something about The Neighbourhood that nobody knows yet?
The Neighbourhood: We put Fresca on our rider.
